How do you otherwise upload files?

If you use FTP to upload files (other than through a web interface I
can't think of a commonly used protocol), then you can also use the
Finder to do so.

Chances are your server allows anonymous logins (I'm guessing you're
not being asked for a password, right?). Try (using the Finder's
command-K) authenticating with the FTP server using you username and
password.
