Well, I know Dell has had a big push on education. Institutions follow a
certain protocol.
As I see it...and I could be wrong...
Microsloth 'trains' people with administration, then gives them small pieces
of paper in recognition. They say they are recognized MS network
administrators and such. So, a company goes for the biggest software, and
their recognized trained 'professionals'. The IT guy has a small piece of
paper that says he's a professional, and he knows how to move folders around
and reinstall service packs cause it's never a solid piece of software to
begin with, etc. It's a work in progress based on need. So, that way, the
professional wants the hardware he knows, and of course that has MS
installed on it. Full circle.
Having a good IT solution for a company with a highly effective alternative,
such as a Mac, has been only for those willing to eat outside of McDonalds.
Resistance to change is what keeps us with roads the width they are.
Someone once posted a progression of decisions from the days of the Romans.
The history showed how nobody wanted to create a new standard of roadway or
railway widths, because 'that's the way it's always been'. I'd give my
right arm for that analysis again. Amazing story, true or otherwise, that
suggests how scared we are of our own decisions.
