Hi Jim,

As I said earlier, I don't use Outlook Express. But I have a copy on 
my HD here which I can open and look at. (Thanks to Apple. ;-)

Under "View" the checked items are:
Toolbars
Folder List
Preview Pane

Under "Columns" the checked items are:
Online Status
Message Status
Priority
Attachment
FromSubject
Sent

Well, that's "square one", AFAIK. Since I have never used the app, I 
have never changed the settings/preferences, so those must be the 
defaults for those areas in Outlook.

BTW, if I did use Outlook, I'd be making a few changes to those 
default settings, but that's just me.
