[muglo] Re: Odd Behavior - Moving Files

Hmm.

I just took a look in the Finder and it's command to move and option to copy.

Try the following with a file that you want to move/copy from one disk
to another.

Drag the file from the one disk to another. A cursor with a green plus
symbol should appear when you move the file's icon onto the second
disk. If you press the command key (Apple key if you're an Apple IIgs
user ;-) before releasing the mouse button the green plus symbol
should disappear.

Likewise, if you drag a file from one folder to another folder on the
SAME disk you shouldn't see any change in your cursor. However, if you
hold down the option key a green plus symbol should appear beside the
cursor. If you release the mouse button before releasing the option
key you will create a copy of the file where you release it (even in
the same folder as the origin).

Holding down the command and option keys at the same time will create
an alias to the original file.

AFAIK control doesn't usually modify clicks (other than to bring up
the contextual menu since some Apple mice lack the second mouse button
(it's nice to see that Apple's _finally_ getting ready to retire the
one button mouse).

Eric.
