[muglo] (OT)Hunt...

...and peckers...

thanks to my father...I am not one of yu'uns!

back in the early 60s...my parents got ahold of a 1927 Underwood...from
where I know not....

about a month later coming home from school...there on the kitchen table was
the typewriter...behind the typewriter was a keyboard poster (just like the
ones on the walls in typing class) glued to a masonite board with two wooden
quarter-rounds serving as the feet.

My Dad who was no intellectual giant...nor could he type...at least I never
saw him make any attempt to do so.....where he got the inspiration I have no
idea...

looked at my sister and me when we got home that day and said.."learn"

So there we were learning on our own. I don't think I will ever forget the
tactile sensation of the glass keys encased in the metal rims and the one
letter that had the cracked glass. ...or the frustration of actually typing
moderately proficient and getting all the key arms stuck and then learning
how to change the ribbon...the sound of the paper coming off the roll (there
is a better word for the roll but I have forgotten it).

Now I am up to 50 wpm but can only exercise this amazing talent when I am
being a prolific email responder!

Thanks for the flash-backs.
