[muglo] Re: OSX/HPLAserJet4L

Alex:

Way back when, (say 1989/90-ish) HP and Apple reached an agreement whereby
HP would become the exclusive licensee to manufacture Apple peripherals
(Lasers, InkJets, Plotters, disk drives, etc) under the "DeskWriter" name
brand. At the last minute, the deal fell through. Very shortly after this,
HP announced a number of new and quite cheap products (including the 4L)
that were NOT compatible with MAC. I guess sometimes, emotions get in the
way of smart business.

As a result, a number of very "kludgey" drivers are kicking around for them
and so far, I've never found one that works with my 4L either. I do believe
however that gimp-print may work (and it's free) if you have a serial or
parallel port on your MAC. I'm on an old iMAC and limited to just USB.
