Hi Ken,
You are correct, the G3 & iMac CDs are for those models only.

And I've heard that before too!!
My 8.5 CD will install on the 7100, as will the 8.6 update, so if you
need them let me know a time & I'll bring them over.
BTW I picked up a used Sonnet G3 upgrade card for the 6100/7100 series,
which would make your 7100 sing along @ 225 Mhz. I tried it in a 6150/66 & it
works like a charm.
