[muglo] Newcomer welcome

Thanks Doug for your warm welcome.
I really enjoyed the meeting last night and the members there made
me feel quite welcome. I felt the presentation was excellent and came
away with a reasonable understanding what FileMaker Pro is capable of
doing. The gathering at Williams afterwards was equally enjoyable and
i came away with a few more points concerning use of my Mac as well as
some helpful tips on the iPhone (which I have been considering for
awhile now) Everyone seemed quite willing to share their
knowledge ,which is what a club is all about. As I mentioned last
night I am a relative newcomer to the Mac world since purchasing my
MacBook Pro in Feb this year (actually the day of the big snowstorm in
Feb '08) I have been in the Windows world since the early 80's.

What made me come over to the "dark side"? Well, my other passion is
photography and I am a member of the London Camera Club. A number of
their members use Macs and when I've attended workshops alot of the
workshop presenters were using Macs. I have noticed over the years
that Microsoft has been continually trying to emulate the Mac with its
Windows upgrades especially the new Vista OS. My middle daughter had
her PC laptop die at Guelph University so I replaced it with a MacBook
and it was her persistence that swayed me over to the Mac side. Since
getting my Mac I can see what everyone in the Mac world have been
talking about. I wish I had come over sooner as it is a far superior
OS to the Windows systems, The hardest part of going to a Mac is
trying to unlearn some of the Windows habits that I have developed
over the years. I still have a long way to go with the Mac and find
that clubs are the best way to get to know the computer and the
various pieces of software available.

I'll definitely be at next meeting. Is there an annual membership fee
and if so how much is it so that I can bring it to the next meeting?

See you at the meeting in Jan. '09.
