Furthermore, there is no "10M to each device" -> you are implying  
there is some inherently fixed QoS at Layer 2. This is not the case.   
It's mostly a free-for-all.  Sure, you could have some rogue app  
start monkeying around with QoS at L3 however the (trunked) ingress  
port needs to recognize CoS and ToS translated in the dot1q header  
bits in order to actually do anything with them.

While you are correct in that increased broadcast and multicast show  
detriment to a segment's performance, the number of devices does not  
have an effect upon the maxima or minima in distance of the  
electrical signal on LAN cable.

Lastly, keep in mind that the radio-side of 802.11a/b/g/n wireless is  
altogether different.  It's radio.  Apples and oranges.  No matter  
what the marketing people may lead you to believe.  Quality wireless  
implementation is not for the faint of heart.  Radio is not LAN.

It's got it's own set of cats to herd.
