I have been using NetCrash 7.02 for awhile, 3-4 months and like 
you find some of the features useful especially tabbed browsing.

I'm using 9.2.2 and I haven't found anything that speeds up mail 
delivery or the boot/startup process. Once it starts it seems 
relatively quick.

Don't discard your older copy of NetCrash (version 4.8 is the 
last of the 4 series that I use regularly). It certainly starts 
up faster and seems to do mail faster than 7.0!  You gotta love 
computers - the more powerful they become the more bloated the 
software so you need a faster computer just to get that old feel 
back.  When memory and the like was at a premium programmers did 
all sorts of things to optimize code - not so sure if that is the 
case now. I figure another 6-9 months and I'm going to try OS X 
and move away from classic - Safari sounds interesting as a browser.
