Here's what it looks like to me:
More and more people seem to be leaning toward the idea of a forum,
either in addition to, or as a replacement for, the Freelists list.
Quite a few people want to keep the list. More than a few of those who
want a forum don't care one way or the other about the list.
Ergo, why don't we satisfy both camps and use both, since RSS can
interconnect them so that anything posted to the one also goes
automatically to the other?
Next, there's a question about whether we should be muglo.ca, which
some people think would better reflect the fact that we're a Canadian
group or muglo.org., which Tee says Apple prefers. He may be right in
saying so, but he also says "a simple search will show that the
majority comply" and so far as I can see that's not the case for
Canadian MUGs. Of the 32 active ones listed at appleusergroups.com
(there are a few dud listings), 13 used .com, 10 used .ca and 9
used .org. That aside, though, it seems we're paid up as MUGLO.org for
two years on FreeWeb, which is one argument in favour of keeping that
designation. Another is that we could, if we wanted, be registered
both ways, since Gerhard has generously offered to host us on his own
domain server, and the two could still be interconnected =97 i.e., the
list and our present home page using MUGLO.org, and the new forum,
whichever one we finally choose, using MUGLO.ca. Our Yuku prototype
uses .com and the Google one uses .ca, and they link up just fine with
the list at .org.
