[muglo] Meetings

I'm assuming that there isn't any interest in having a June meeting and
that perhaps we should stand down till September. But then again it's
hard to read the will of the silent majority.
When I asked the attendees of the last meeting if they would prefer:
        a) to have meetings in the summer
        b) have a get together - such as a barbecue - (would require a place)
or
        c) wait until September
... the mumbling was, well, mumbly. Besides, no one has suggested a
place for a BBQ.

There is so much traffic in Muglo - which is both good and bad. Good
because there is a lot of communication. Bad because - how many times
does one have to say "get or don't get a fax machine" - apparently
dozens. And when it comes to the topic of forums - good golly guys -
I've run out of fingers, toes and hair to count them. The fortunate
thing is we can all voice an opinion, but unfortunately nothing can get
done. There are many issues on the floor and it requires an executive
(collaborative) decision to make a change.

Doug Bale and I have been asked if we would consider the executive role
and I think we both see this as a lot of work - worthwhile, but
requiring LOTS of support.
--------------------------------------------------------------
I loved it when Teresa spoke up and declared herself as a self
appointed greeter when she saw that a guest got up and left a meeting -
because no one talked to him.

I loved it when Terry generously brought his coffee to meetings -
especially after no one answered his original query of - does anyone
want him to bring it along.

I loved it when Jordan jumped up and did an impromptu talk on a topic
of "Wiki" when called upon.

I loved it when Terry suggested on the spur of the moment, that he
could do a 10 minute demo on how to change RAM on a laptop.

We need a lot more of those participating members.

And we need EVERYONE to contribute. Awhile ago, I use to sit in the
back of the room and lurked - mainly because I didn't have any computer
skills to demo. But I've been in Waterloo's meetings where I saw a
member who had put together a presentation, comprised of a web video
and good research to showcase a product - Apple's iWork'08. Not
necessarily because this person used it all day, but because this
person could devote a bit of time to make it happen.

In the meanwhile, here's what I would love to see:

Someone to:

Help Investigate various survey programs that work on forums and
emails. There are a number of programs that would allow us to vote on a
survey of: Meeting days; Meeting or no; BBQ or no; Donation or no - all
with a click of the mouse - right in your e-mail. And some of these
programs will tabulate the numbers and even create graphs
automatically! Some are free for non-profit organizations, but with
limitations. But it needs some legwork.

Help Solicit donations (not necessarily computer related) from our
members and/or also purchase items for for our monthly draw. Be able to
conduct the draw - sell tickets, make the draw.

Help ensure that all members have a ride to and from meetings.

Help put together an Agenda and publicize.

Help update and produce posters for distribution to libraries, computer
stores, schools and other locales to advertise meetings and website.

Help put together key points of meetings to upload to the website for
those who are unable to attend.

Help arrange for topics and speakers for future meetings.

Below are just a few topics that I'd love to hear more about -

YouTube, MySpace, MetaCafe, GoFish, Vimeo, Biku, Yahoo Video.
