For anyone following the malware "opener" script, you can get a recently updated technical report [Oct. 26] on the Symantec site. It describes in detail what this script does and it's level of risk. [Don't panic over this, it's just for your general knowledge. You are probably very unlikely to come in contact with it.] http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/sh.renepo.b.html Of course, Symantec calls it a virus, but it is in their best interest to do so. The macosxhints site contains a good discussion as well as giving directions to a "closer" script that may effectively detect and remove the "opener" script. http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20041101050409768&mode=print Also, if you missed it, reference Eric's excellent e-mail of Oct 26, 3:33 p.m. for a good discussion of the significance of this script.
