[muglo] Magnificent Apple OT

Just a note I thought some might find interesting. Spent some time in
Chicago last week and, while walking the Magnificent Mile looking for the
latest at Sacs and Tiffany et al, I came across a door with an apple over
it. Inside was a huge, very open, two level - at least - store with a a wide
staircase connecting the levels. In it were counters containing every Apple
product imaginable. And some I had no idea what they were. More Macs than
I'd never seen. And, unlike places like Best Buy, it seemed very classy.
On the second level were banks of Mac techs. You picked up a number and
waited your turn. I was there at 1.30 and the next appt. was a 3.50. They
were busy.
An interesting observation to me was that as far as I could tell the
prices looked very similar, and in some cases less, that the prices here in
Canada. There was, for instance, a top end iMac with the big screen, etc.
etc. that I have been looking at for, as I recall, a little more than $2300
with the educator's discount. The same model there on display was about
$2900.
A place to visit if you're ever wandering the streets of the Windy City.
