Hi Terry:

So, none of the people attending last night's meeting had the energy
to reply. That's a shame especially since you are one of the real
contributing members.

We had 5 guests last night, and of those, 3 came because they saw the
Kijiji ad - and as you mentioned, the poster ad was only up for the 5
days previous. I think I accounted for 4 or 5 of those hits as I kept
on checking back.

We had topics ranging from: transferring music from 78s, 45s and 33
1/3s to CD and touched on the ability of Audacity to edit the pops and
scratches along with the ability to boost bass, change pitch and many
other features. When an old 78 was playing it's faded, worn out music
with its scratches and pops, one of our younger pups - Jordan asked:
"Was that what music sounded like in your younger days?"

The topic of backups was brought into sharp focus as Doug Bale found
that HIS BACKUP DRIVE failed, just days before his demonstration and
talks on backups! And although it finally came out of its coma, it
clearly demonstrated that if your information is important, perhaps
one should grandfather your backups *in other words, backup your
backup - or live with the consequences."

Jordan showed us how Twitter works - A social messaging utility for
staying connected in real-time - an up and coming kind of Facebook.

I think there is an equal amount of learning and exchanges afterwards
at the coffee shop, where members tried Twitter and checked out
Audacity and SuperDuper.
