Thanks, Leith. I finally got so flaming angry that I did ahead and
built a whole new multi-page shell document, sans image boxes, pasted
in the strung-together text from the recalcitrant original, and then
made all new image boxes and created new links for them. I was
surprised to find that it actually didn't take me as much time as I
expected it would, and in the process, because I wasn't having to think
about devising concept or content, I found I had leisure to think more
about just the mechanics of building the darned thing -- and discovered
a useful bunch of short cuts for doing it.
But what IS this thing about images having to be ganged together in
folders? Some programs seem to insist on it, others not, and InDesign
seems sometimes inclined this way, sometimes that. I don't see any
logical pattern in it at all. Just one more thing to drive poor users
nuts.
Cheers
Doug
