My problem has been solved with the following code: movie "BMcD","plain" send play to window "BMcD" Found this info at URL <http://www.scism.sbu.ac.uk/inmandw/tutorials/hmtools/teachhc/quicktime/quicktime.html> While one can use all the parameters available (movie "file name", "window style", "location", "visible") I found that the "stripped down" version I used placed the movie window right in the centre of the stack window where I wanted it anyway. Adding the code that automatically plays the movie is optional, because the viewer can always use the built-in QT controls in the window.
