Sending mail is a different kettle of fish.

You have to set the send mail server to the one that is used for the
particular network to which you are connected...

Unless two conditions are present: (1) the ISP through which you're
connecting allows for mail to be sent to a third party send mail
server and (2) your own send mail server accepts connections from
outside of its own network to relay mail).
