I have just tried using the help contents on my son's version of 
Office (v.X with service pack 1) and had no trouble getting rid 
of the screen.  The obvious question is the close button there? 
did you click it, what happened?

If you have v.X have you applied all the updates?  I just went 
throught this installing the program on another computer.
