It depends on what applications you use, word processing, e-mail web  
browsing etc.  will be about the same but if you photoshop or other  
programs that deal with large file sizes you will see a noticeable  
difference.  Increasing the memory also allows you to have more  
programs open before you notice your machine becoming sluggish.   
Memory is one those things you can't have too much of.
