Well, I had some free time over the weekend and took apart my old
G3 keyboard (being used as we speak - so to speak). Boy was it
dirty underneath!! Took it all apart, cleaned all the inards,
wiped the plastic tracer sheets, dug out the hair, dust, cookie
crumbs (hey I got 3 kids and I don't care how many times you tell
them no!) and lint from under all the double size keys washed and
rinsed the remaining keys and keyboard and everything so far
seems to be working fine.
I can see why Terry says it is just easier to replace the
keyboard especially with a used one. Labour costs would far
exceed the "replacement" keyboard cost - talk about living in a
disposable society.
I will keep the other keyboard around, at least as long as I own
a computer that uses adb. That means as soon as the 7200 and my
G3 goes I'll be in USB territory and who knows what will be the
standard connector by then - a microphone jack?
I'll let you know if I run into troubles with it over the longer haul
Martin
