These days there are quite a few options. I'm presuming your eMac has
firewire, if so all you need is an inexpensive Firewire cable & follow
the instructions in "Mac Help"; top of screen, right of middle.
Another way is to use a "Pocket" drive, also called a Flash drive etc.
Invaluable, inexpensive portable HDs, especially for Photo back up. O/S
X automagically, as Eric is wont to say, recognizes such drives. Both
of the above do not need any software to do the job. HTH.
