[muglo] Re: Formatting PC Zips in Mac Format

Hi Leith,

I have done what you described and found there to be no problems using
them, even over several years.
There was talk of the 'click of death' with Zip disks (check Google),
but figure that was such a small amount over the number sold - people
only tend to complain when something doesn't work. Not sure how common
it may be now as they are not as popular since the arrival of
CD-burners.

I haven't formatted for quite awhile (using OS X pretty much all the
time with my burner) but what I remember doing is putting the Zip in,
the OS (8.6 and 9) would recognize it, and under 'Special' would chose
'Erase Disk' and set it to the Mac format. The Zip icon would also
change over from a PC one.
They certainly are cheaper and more readily available (Staples).
