You are presumptuous! FMP 3 doesn't use an SQL approach to finding
records. You basically use the form you are in (if it has the fields
you'd like to search) and enter your criteria there. There are a range
of options including at the end an omit option. This type of
search/find goes right to version 7. The beauty though is that find
sequences are easily automated using FMP's internal scripting process.
FMP7 has added the ability to search within a found subset of records,
something not possible before without going through a lot of hoops.
Most FMP db designers construct a find layout accessible by script only
(with error control) to allow a user to input a find request. FMP
operates very much like the data base in AW 4 thru 6 but, as has been
discussed in previous missives on MUGLO, since it focuses on db
functions only and is a much richer and more capable db application a
key feature being its relational capabilities as compared to AW's flat
file structure..
I still say as a package AW6 does a great job of providing a number of
easily accessible pieces (/ / / Easy Pieces for you history buffs!).
Also I think Paul could accomplish what he is doing in FMP 3 using AW6
just as easily if not more so (said not having seen the database! ).
