Well, Barry, you are glad I posed the question. Misery likes company.
In the meantime, you raised the specter of flawed Applescripts. I
know they exist, but beyond that I know nothing.
Tomorrow I will try the same project using OS 10.3.8. I will let you
know the outcome.
