The warranty of an Apple hard drive is determined by the warranty
coverage of the computer. If you had the standard 1 year Apple
warranty then your HD is covered for 1 year. If you purchased
AppleCare then the HD is covered for 3 years. Something else to know
is that any HD that comes with an Apple computer is known as an OEM
(Original Equipment Manufacturer) part, and is subject to Apple's
warranty, not the warranty of the manufacturer of the HD. So even
though the maker of the hard drive might have a 3 year warranty on
their hard drives when sold separately, Apple's warranty over-rides
that. Most HD manufacturers have webpages where you can check your
hard drive's warranty if you purchased the drive separately. You can
usually find the manufacturer name and model number of your HD by
running Disk Utility and checking the left-hand column where your
drive(s) are listed. You will also need the serial number of the HD
which will require removal of the drive to see the info label on top
of the drive. with this information, lookup the manufacturers webpage,
then look for their support page, then look for any links about
warranty coverage and you will be presented with a form where you can
enter the drive info and see what the warranty status is.
