[muglo] Cleaning Display

Hi
This is a pretty trivial matter, I guess, but my eMac manual makes it
sound ominous.
When the eMac is in "sleep" mode I can see that the screen is covered
with little finger prints of the grandchildren who can't refrain from
touching it when playing the Sims. I'd like to clean it.
The manual says that I must shut down the machine and "disconnect all
cables." Is that latter point really necessary and, if so, why?
Any advice out there, please?
Bob
