I suspect that 4.8 is probably no less stable than 4.79 (probably I would
have experienced the same problems with 4.79). The problem with 4.x is that
they're pretty nasty CPU hogs -- if a complex page is rendered it can freeze
up OS 9 even though the computer hasn't crashed (IE or iCab or Opera don't
do this).

Netscape 6.x or 7.x will NEVER compete with real web browsers -- they're too
complex and feature filled to be useful for every-day browsing.

As for e-mail, iCab *does* have e-mail facilities built-in. I *hate* having
my e-mail and my web together (which is probably part of my strong distaste
for Netscrape (or ClarisWorks, or Microsoft Works, or any other all-in-one
application)) so I've never experimented with it, but it seems to work.

L8r, Eric.

PS It's a crying shame that Netscape didn't work on refining Netscape rather
than going the Mozilla route. Netscape 4.7.x had the potential to take on
Explorer and be the best browser out there, but by going the bloat-wear
route, they have permanently dropped the ball (someone else may pick it up
again (Chimera ???<keep fingers crossed> though only for newer OSes :(.
