If all you take are relatives, i.e.: close ups. or buildings etc. then 3
times is probably OK, but if you plan to take scenery, sports etc. then
a "Telephoto" range of 6 - 10 times is the route to go. As a novice a
less expensive camera like the A75, or Fuji 3800 would probably suffice.

Having a Photo printer in addition to the 760; a good printer; is a neat
way to go & the photo inks would probably last longer.

Most of the current scanners can do all of these functions, I've done
all of the above with mine.

There are indeed some available, which saves desk space, but they
usually don't scan at a high resolution, although some of the newer
higher cost ones do, and few can copy slides or negatives well. A great
choice if you need to replace 2 machines, but all scanners are also a
photo copier, the secret really lies in the software.

HP used to be very good, but seem to have fallen behind in the last 2
years and most of the readily available ones are not O/S X savvy.

I bought mine at Henrys as I know many of the sales people who are from
Blacks etc. Most of the aftersales service will be from the manufacturer
and you probably won't need it anyway. Forest City Imaging have
knowledgeable people and their prices are quite comparable to the big
box and closer to you. I'm down your way every day if you'd like to
handle mine camera and I can show you why I chose what I did, much of it
age related.

Congratulations, I hope I get that far, but I'm only 66.
