Of course, there's the problem that most (all?) of the lenses for digital
SLRs are different from those for film SLRs.

Digicam... digital camera!

PS I had the opportunity to play with the 3800 (actually the 302... same
model essentially) and was thoroughly underwhelmed by the utility of the
manual settings. Most of the time I shoot with shutter (60%), aperature
(20%) override or fully manual (10%) and I could only find Ae on the 302.
I've also been unimpressed by the GUI on the Minoltas and Olympus. So far
Canon has had the best GUI of any digicam that I've been able to lay my hand
on (this would explain why Canon is *the* digicam manufacturer).
Unfortunately, I'm not blown away by the physical design of Canon's cameras.

To Fuji's credit, the feel of the Fuji 302 (3800) or the 5000 (the 10x) in
your hands is wonderful. If they'd work on improving on the GUI they would
be killer cameras. I was underwhelmed by the S5000 and S7000 as well
(awesome feel, mediocre interface) and it has a major fault in that Fuji is
obviously trying to pull a bait-and-switch (S5000) by making it seem like a
6 MP camera even though it's only 3 MP... if a co does that you just can't
trust them... it's just like sellers that advertise optical + digital zoom
together should be avoided since they likely don't know their a** from a
hole in the ground.
