For the serious photographer, yes they are worth it, particulally if you 
can utilize the extra lens you have; Tele & Wide Angle; but for half the 
cost of the cheapest you can but other cameras, which is why I bought 
the Fuji 3800, its a SLR in drag.
Digicam I have no interest in at all.
