The very first thing I do when I get a computer is give it a new 
name, well not so much the computer as the hard drive.  _Then_ I 
put it on the network.  I have no troubles using my mix of 5 
OS8.6, OS9.x, OSX 10.2.x and Win98 systems.  How do you find your 
way around 5 computers all called Macintosh HD, even with an 
owner name.

My kids even like naming their computers - at least I know with 
who it is I'm trying to connect!
