[muglo] Brother Printer Problem

I have a Brother printer HL1240, with an iBook running OS 9.2.2.
I've also had problems trying to stop a print job with it. Brother
Canada has a toll free number, 1-800-853-6660, at least the last time
I phoned them last year.

Back in 2001, I found in the "Brother Solutions Centre":

http://solutions.brother.com/Library/faq/printer/prfaq0026/prfaq0026.html

a help sheet called "Print Jobs are Pending using a Mac via USB
interface". I don't know if it's still there or not.

It says you are supposed to open the Brother Spool Folder in the
Systems Folder, and drag all the items to the trash and empty it. On
mine, it's open the Brother Print Monitor Documents in the System
Folder. However, I found I had to restart, as the trash wouldn't
empty, even when I pressed Control. The items in the Documents
Folder aren't locked, as I remember, so that's not what's stopping
them from being trashed. You might try holding down the option key
when dragging to the trash--I've got a note about that, but I don't
know if I tried it and it worked or not.

I've been mostly printing pdf files where I have to select the pages
I want to copy, so I haven't run into this problem lately. However,
I welcome any information you get from Brother on the topic, for, as
I remember it, the trashing method didn't always work.

It's important to increase the memory for the printer.

Also, FYI, if you're looking to get your Brother printer cleaned down
the road, I believe the only place in town that has the expertise to
do it is London Business Machines. They are in the process of moving
to Oxford and Third.

So, pls let me know if you find out anything more than I told you. Thanks.

Leith
