Gerhard,
Had a similar problem with a macbook pro where a little banging
around in the right location caused a nice little starburst effect
emanating from the center of the display. As much as Apple likes to
tout the durability of their equipment, we must recognize that these
are still fairly fragile machines. My particular problem evidently
came from cramming too much stuff in my bag with the laptop. That
center sweet spot where the Apple logo lies is particularly
vulnerable. Apple will not repair this under warranty, choosing to
take the "abuse" escape clause and wanting 800 bucks for a new
display. Therefore, a blue line or a little starburst across the
screen becomes a lesson learned on the vulnerability and care of
these machines. In the words of William Jefferson Clinton, "I feel
your pain".
Best wishes,
Joe Nolan
