[muglo] Bell from Hell !! ???

Hi fellow Muglo-ites!
I know that Joan and others here have had some past horror stories
with Bell-Symcrapico, but my latest encounter beats them all !

Having taken notice here of messages warning some downtime might be
experienced (a couple of days?) I gave them advance notice on 21
April, of my wish to quit their service as of 30 April - and despite
no official recognition of this, my Internet connection was duly cut
on that date. There followed a period of eighteen days with no
Internet connection or email , in which my new ISP suppliers (ISP
Canada) were given differing daily stories and promises of the line
being made available for them to make a new connection for me.
Things, Bell said, were complicated by (their own) Nortel modem
supplied me. I think this was just another excuse for a series of
interdepartmental 'failures to communicate'. And this from a
company whose expertise supposedly is in 'communications' !

It beats anything I've ever experienced living on four of the world's
continents - they are IMHO the most incompetent, inefficient crowd
I'v ever been unfortunate enough to come across. And have a monopoly
into the bargain. And I gather that Rogers users have even greater
problems ?

Well, today I've just switched my phone connection to Win-Tel
(Primus) , thus saving myself a bundle of dollars per month with some
rates ( eg 5 cents per min to UK) a third of what I'd been paying Bell.

I thought I'd just relate this tale of woe so that perhaps you guys
might be alerted to possible current or future problems with Ma Bell
- whom I think could be described as the "Mother of All Screwups" :
( Be warned !

I remain your relieved fellow internet user - but now utilizing local
talent, available by just dropping in to see them with my queries -
and not at the end of a 10 level voice mail system in Montreal or
points East - to discover they don't have a Mac Manual !. Sounds
almost as bad as that crowd along in Ottawa?

Cheers

Ilbert

WWW - And a final thought from Walker's Wit & Wisdom ? :-)
