As a point of clarification (one of my pet peeves)... virii is a
non-existent word. Vir means man in Latin, and viri is the plural, men.
Virii would be mens ;).

The other consideration is that "virus" had a different meaning from what we
take it to mean now. This means that, since virus is not actually the Latin
word, we pluralise it using English rules (i.e. viruses).

... so, your main spelling is the correct one.

I noticed that virii became popular with the computer crowd a few years ago,
but its use has since been relegated to the side-lines as more people
understand the word's epistemology.
