[muglo] Battling Two Evil Empires ? May the Force be with them !

Once upon a time, in a galaxy not so bloody far away, an unsuspecting  
wayfarer attempted to surf the Internet on her Starship Sympatico  
using MicroSerf Warp drive.  Warped is perhaps a more appropriate  
descriptive term to use !
The traveller, trying to reach an escape-earth velocity, discovered  
they were to be confined to read-only email functions and excluded  
from sending any messages ( even an S.O.S ) or accessing the distant  
wonders of the Internet galaxies !  How clever of the MicroSerf  
Nerds. in collusion with that other Evil Enpire of Symcrapico, to  
build in this default programming - and then to exclude any warning  
to potential travellers.   Long Live the Empire ! God Save Darth Gates !

NOT !

They hadn't allowed for the skills of Jedi-Knights Tee Cashmore and  
Arne Larsen (ISP Canada) assisted by Terry Steeple - who were able to  
track down this disabling device of the MicroSerf Nerds , who had  
programmed the onboard computer to automatically classify any  
Sympatico crew using DSL, as being on a local network galaxy - and  
therefore with restricted privileges - read only emails , no Internet  
access etc

Our brave Jedi Knights, waving their wand sticks, battled the  
formidable Darth, surrounded by his mindless zombie robot serfs.   
With their higher skills and manoeuvrability afforded by The Force,  
our Jedi Warriors somersaulted over their Evil Empire combatants -  
and manage to delete them and their dastardly , hidden, programming  
traps.  Thus were thwarted Darth Gate's plans of Universal domination  
and maintenance of his consumerist empire.
An end was put to his marketing techniques of confusing the space  
travelling-population by forcing them into ever more expensive and  
confusing upgrades and retraining, and further condemning them to a  
lifetime of DOS cosmic slavery.

Our fortunate traveller could now reboot her warp drive and resume  
her surfing explorations of the limitless Xanadu - the Internet Cosmos.

Praise be for the Jedi Knights !

May The Force Be With Them !!
