I would be pleased to run a demo of Appleworks database at a future get 
together or as a SIG meeting.  The learning curve is not that steep as 
the database due it's flat file nature is relatively easy to learn.  A 
side benifit is that many of the techniques learned there can be 
applied to FMP.

As I have previously stated here in other threads, I still find the AW 
wp a reasonably good basic word editor.  In most cases it does just 
fine for many basic things.  The program is getting a little long in 
the tooth since it has not been updated in a long time.  The iWorks 
series probably offers more current features but lacks a spreadsheet 
and a simplified database function similar to AW.  Having said that I 
think the days of an all-in-one program are over given the capabilities 
of modern OSs and programming.
