Actually, they are distinct beasts. "Go" will not connect to the Novell
server. OS X only supports Open Transport AppleTalk (I think that's what th=
e
distinction is), and no longer supports "older" (pre OT) style AppleShare
connections. It's been a real headache in our department because up to this
point it has meant that OS X users (our numbers are growing) could not logi=
n
to the network server and instead had to boot into OS 9.
Windows XP Home Edition actually suffers from the same problem since they'v=
e
dropped support for the networking protocol that our server uses for the
Winblows side of things (Micro$oft and Apple are no less evil in their
attempts to force people to upgrade to the latest and greatest when tried,
tested and true work just fine!). Although, to Apple's credit, they now
allow the Chooser to act as a bridge to the older world of pre-OT Macs (I
wonder if they had too many complaints from IT departments, demanding a
solution).
L8r, Eric.
PS Eurogarth, what e-mailer are you using b/c all your e-mails come through
in a horrid fashion (I'm guessing Netscape b/c it has problems with quoting
text and HTML).
