No contest Of course, it's not "free" since you have upkeep and you have to have a coop to get together to set it up and you still need grid power as well. Right now we're suffering from a mass subsidy of everyone's energy use (especially the pigs) so you don't pay the real cost of energy (well, we do, but indirectly through a massive subsidy through our taxes -- one comment today was that the effective price is $0.15/kWh when you factor in debt payments for the nukes in the form of taxes -- & Rich is so worried about taxes this would be one way to get them down). In that climate people simply cannot *justify* the outlay of $200K on a windmill. If you were paying $0.15/ it would be a lot easier to justify the outlay since the ROI would be that much quicker.
