I don’t want to appear difficult, but I can’t help thinking that What’s App is
really not what we need to replace our present system. It’s essentially a
messaging service and is brilliant for small groups who want to organise
something specific but in our case there are emails permanently about many
different things. Can you imagine all the conversations on three separate
threads from last week for example all coming through as messages. Our phones
would be pinging and ringing from dawn to dusk with individual messages coming
in from up to 40 or so people.
It’s a shame we can’t keep the present system. it works very well. Can we not
just keep an eye out for rogue emails - we know all the group’s names - and
report anything weird to Jamie to kick them out again? It’s a hassle for Jamie
to have to monitor everything. We all know it’s not secure anyway but it seems
to be fairly gremlin free most of the time.
Anyway, just some thoughts from Mrs Grumpy!
Now, anyone coming to mine for breakfast on Saturday?!
Mairi.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for doing this. It's certainly worth a try and we can see what others
think.

touch!
Hi folks
I've put together all the contacts I had on my phone and created a what's app
group called Mugdock runner's...
If you didn't get a text or don't have what's app please get in touch ( if you
want to)
I can add you into the group...only if I have your mobile etc...
This is a trial to see if it's better and more secure than the freelist we are
currently using... again it's only a trial to see if it's better going
forward...
My mobile is 074155 04327....

Hi all,
For my part, I will try to have a hunt about for a list serve software/offering
that meets the needs from the security and privacy side of things.
Will let you know what I find.
Any other bright ideas out there?
Jamie
P.S. Have changed the subject line to something more appropriate for this
discussion.

It would be easy enough but a massive group and not everyone is on What's App.
Also perhaps more intrusive than email.
Mairi.
