Networking is really not something I'm very good at troubleshooting....all I
know is how it is done at the school where I teach. In our case, when any
student saves files, they save them to their own P drive (which is on one
of the servers)....when a new student comes to the school, we have them them
point Outlook to their P drive to store their pst file there and they never
have to do anything more than that. They log into a computer and open
Outlook and their pst is there. I know the Network Admin makes all profiles
"roving profiles" so they can be accessed from all computers, but I don't
know what's entailed in that (and that's a Windows thing...not an Outlook
thing, so it's really not something to be discussed in this group...but
since you're the network guy you probably know how to set up roving profiles
anyway)...all of this is done without Exchange Server and it seems to work
fine at the school where I work.

Linda they do have a place on the server which is their own but the problem
is
having outlook give them the e-mail configuration as they log in. When they
login to the computer they get a desktop that is set up for them by me and
not a personalized one. In fact we have a "hard drive protector" which
prevents them changing any parameters on the local computer. The files they
save are saved on the server in their name and only they have access to
these
files.
I may be missing something but I don't see how to configure Outlook for
common
usage. Maybe I should build a pst file that is included in their login
script
as I do for mapped drives that everybody needs? Can this be done? How?
