Hi Bill
To prevent the task pane from coming up when you open Word, go to Tools,
Options. In the View tab, uncheck the first item - Startup Task Pane. The task
pane will not be there when you start up Word. However, if you are opening a
new document using File--> New, the task pane will definitely appear.

As for the size discrepancy--judging from the comparative zoom levels you
mentioned, the only thing I could think of is that this could happen with a
change in the orientation of your document from landscape to portrait (since
you already considered the screen resolution.)

Subject: [mso] re-install Office Pro 2003

Greetings all. I have done a complete re-format of my system. I re-installed
Office etc. and when I open up word it comes to a blank page which is normal
but half the size it used to be.On my screen it was set to almost take up the
whole screen with the zoom set at 90%.It now needs 115% to take up the whole
page. This is done with the page set at 8.5'' X 11''.

How can I get the page to be 90% and take all the screen like before. Also how
do I get rid of the task pane. I have clicked it off in customize but it keeps
coming back every time I open a fresh page. All the word documents
I have saved are now a smaller size as well and some have to be increased up to
120%.

Thank You
