[mso] Re: problem with formulas appearing on spreadsheet.

I think you need to give a bit more info here.

Is this a program that's running or are you typing?

You say: "I am now entering into a cell which has a formula, ...".
Difficult to be sure what you mean by this. If you type something into a
cell that has a formula, then the formula will be overwritten by what you
type. A formula can only have one lot of information in it. If the
information starts with an equals sign, then it's treated as a formula; if
it doesn't start with an equals sign, then it'll just be displayed as you
entered it (adjusted by any formatting on the cell).

Are you trying to overtype a cell that has a formula - i.e. replace the
formula with a value? Or with another formula?

In general, if you hit F2 and then start typing, you will be editing the
formula and can expect formula-entry behaviour such as you have described.
If you just go to the cell and start typing, then the formula will be
completely overwritten, and you won't see this behaviour unless your new
entry also starts with an equals sign.
