[mso] nubie question on mixing/matching Windows and Office versions

Hi all,

I'm sure this must be a FAQ somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.
I'm new to this group and quite happy to be able to ask somebody here!

My question is: Can I install a version of Office on a machine that has a
newer version of Windows? For example, if I buy a new machine with XP, can I
install an older version of Office 2000? Are there any problems with mixing
and matching OS and Office versions like that?

TIA!
Howard
