[mso] Re: normal? global? and oe

Beth...you will get that message about the global template when you change
something that will effect all documents...like changing your default font,
or changing a toolbar button, etc. Word is simply asking if you want that
change to be made to all future documents. You SHOULD be able to say "no"
though, so I don't know what you mean when you say you couldn't do anything
else when saving it. Maybe you need to go back and re-read the Word classes
you took with me online...I covered the global template in there
(normal.dot) and told you how to turn off that message (though I always
recommend people leave it turned on so they know when Word is attempting to
do this, otherwise the changes will automatically be made to normal.dot
without you having a chance to say no)...

HOWEVER, if you are sure you did NOTHING that would affect normal.dot and
you still get this message all the time, you could have a macro virus...read
this Microsoft article:

http://snurl.com/2iw9

OR...since I remember you use Microsoft Works, there's an addin that also
causes this in Word...this same article above discusses how to turn that off
too.

Now....I'm surprised I have to tell you again that Outlook Express is NOT a
part of Microsoft Office so questions about it should not be sent to this
group....however, since you say some people are getting these potentially
dangerous attachments and others aren't, I'm beginning to suspect that maybe
you DO have a virus

Anyway...if you want to be able to receive these attachments in Outlook
Express, go to Tools>Options and click on the Security tab and remove the
check where it says "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that
could potentially be a virus"....but please don't do this if you don't know
enuf about protecting your computer.

And please...no more Outlook Express questions in this group...thanks.

Subject: [mso] normal? global? and oe

Dear Linda and group,
I think that my question is a recent topic that went through
already - so pardon me if I'm repeating this for yous...
Today I worked on a couple of files and then when I went to save and close
for the day Word told me that the settings for the normal dot ...has been
changed do I want to keep it as such - (I'm not quoting - just going from
memory)
and if I said no I could not do anything else when trying to save it - so I
had
to agree. Now what exactly does that mean and how do I go back to saving as

usual - without changing normal/global settings - and why did that happen -
I
don't recall doing anything different that would 'change' my settings.

My second question is about OE - this is entirely new to me as I do not use
it at home - however we started using it at work and it seems that we have
alot
of problems with attachments - like opening them - or getting attachments
and
finding out that they can't be opened because OE removed it because it could

be harmful - why does OE scan the mail like this some of us get the same
mail
and some of us can open it while others get the 'removed' statement - and
what
do I do for difficult attachments that won't open?

I don't write often but when I do....thank you in advance for your help
