From what you say it sounds like you've just got another program running
somewhere.
If there's nothing minimised in your Task Bar, then check Task Manager
(Alt-Ctrl-Del) to see what that shows running at the Applcations tab.

Another problem I'm having today is when I'm writing in Word, the blue
application bar at the top goes gray and I have had to click... it is like
my computer is switching to another window and I have to click about every
10 seconds...
yes... I ran a virus check... mine does a check 3 times a day, but I did a
manual one as well... no viruses...
Any ideas?
