how are you deleting them? Delete key? They could be borders, in which case 
you need to select the line, as well as several lines above and below, and 
use Format - Borders and Shading. Select None, and repeat as needed.

You could try that with Ctrl-A first but may still have to go through and 
delete some leftovers.

I just finished a 127,000 word manuscript.  While looking through it as a 
final edit I kept noticing these thin lines that went all the way across the 
page after paragraphs.  Some I could delete and some I could not.  Those 
that could be deleted simply moved to the end of the next paragraph.  I 
chased one down 6 paragraphs before giving up. I need to clear this problem 
up so that I can submit the ms to publishers. Has anyone else run into this 
problem and/or know how to fix it?  I am totally clueless and ready to boil 
over from frustration.
