[mso] (*&(&(&&( lines in Word 2003

I just finished a 127,000 word manuscript.  While looking through it as a final 
edit I kept noticing these thin lines that went all the way across the page 
after paragraphs.  Some I could delete and some I could not.  Those that could 
be deleted simply moved to the end of the next paragraph.  I chased one down 6 
paragraphs before giving up. I need to clear this problem up so that I can 
submit the ms to publishers. Has anyone else run into this problem and/or know 
how to fix it?  I am totally clueless and ready to boil over from frustration.
