And was there an option for Word 2003 files?
Well, I suppose anything is possible with the recovery, but the mention of
"little boxes" tells me you have data, but data that Office 2007 doesn't
understand.
If you have a non-confidential file that you would like to send me as an
example, I can try opening it with Office 2003 (but I won't be able to do that
until about 8pm Eastern).

Did you try looking under the "Open" dialog? In Word 2003, there are a
number of options to pick under "Files of type" (including, by the way, Word
2007
formats) and I imagine 2007 has something similar.
I am assuming you are using Word, but the other Office products have
similar
options.

Were the files created with Office 2007? If not (and I don't have 2007 to
check) there is probably an option to open the files in an older format.
(The
little boxes mean that those characters are not recognized).

Hi,
I'm looking for advice.? My hard drive crashed, and my data was

recovered.? I installed Office 2007 and when I try to open files, all I

is a bunch of little boxes.? Any ideas on how to proceed?
Thanks!
